Peter Ivak MD, Ph.D. is a Cardiac Surgeon at the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM) in Prague, Czech Republic. He received his Cardiovascular surgery training at IKEM Prague. Currently, he serves as a Vice-Chair for Science and Research at Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at IKEM Prague. He is focused on mechanical circulatory support for more than 10 years and participates in performance of a wide spectrum of VAD procedures. Fields of mechanical circulatory support and heart transplant are one his primary areas of clinical and research interests. He has published a number of publications focused on MCS, especially in areas of hemocompatibility, anticoagulation and also basic science in this field. He currently serves as a board member of EUROMACS registry and takes part in local and international research studies in the field.
