Dr. Luca Di Marco graduated in 2001 as a medical doctor at the University of Bologna and in 2004 he obtained the title of PhD in “Clinical-Experimental Disciplines in Cardio-Thoracic-Vascular Surgery” at the University of Bologna – with the research program “Selective antegrade cerebral perfusion in aortic arch surgery”. He graduated as heart surgeon in 2009 and, after finishing his training, he focused his interest on aortic surgery. Currently he is senior staff member at Cardiac Surgery Unit, Cardio-Thoracic-Vascular Departement of S.Orsola University Hospital of Bologna. He performed several fellowships, stages and observership-periods in primary Italian and International Cardiovascular Surgery Departments. Member of Italian Society of Cardiac Surgery (SICCH), European Association of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS), National Association of Hospital Cardiologist (ANMCO), European Society of Cardiology (ESC), Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Network (CTSNet). Research interests: thoracic aortic surgery (cerebral protection in aortic arch surgery, aortic root surgery, “hybrid” surgery in complex thoracic and thoraco-abdominal aortic lesions, valve surgery, aortic endovascular surgery), surgery of heart valve disease, heart trasplantation. Former co-chair of the “Vascular Domain” and member of the “Guidelines Domain” of the Italian Society of Cardiac Surgery, he is actually co-chair of the GIROC (Italian Research Group for Outcomes in Cardiac Surgery). Member of the Editorial board of the Interdisciplinary Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery journal, Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine, EC Cardiology Journal, Annals of Cardiovascular Surgery.
