Francesco Onorati serves as Associate Professor in Cardiac Surgery at Verona University Hospital, Italy. He focused his researches on myocardial protection strategies, cardiopulmonary bypass, heart transplantation, heart failure surgery, left ventricular assisting devices, arterial grafting, aortic dissections, and atrial fibrillation surgery. During the last 10 years he specialized in aortic surgery, endocarditis, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, transcatheter procedures, mechanical assisting devices and transplantation.
He currently takes the position of President of the Technical School (BSc Degree) in Cardiovascular Perfusion at the School of Medicine of Verona University, he is the Director of the Heart Transplant and Mechanical Assistance Unit, he is the Lead of the Level 1 Panel for the European Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery (EBCTS) certification as well as an Examiner and a Board Member of EBCTS, and also a Member of the Aortic Dissection Task Force of the European Association for CardioThoracic Surgery (EACTS).
He serves as reviewer for more than 30 international peer-reviewed Journals of the field, he is an active member of the Editorial Board of 4 international peer-reviewed Journals of Cardiovascular surgery and an Author of more than 250 papers and 16 chapters in books, with a H-index of 33.
