Andrea Rubboli, MD, is the Director of the Division of Cardiology, S. Maria delle Croci Hospital, Ravenna, Italy. After earning cum laude both his MD degree (1985) and specialization in Cardiology (1989) at the University of Bologna Medical School, Italy, he completed subsequent training at Loyola University of Chicago, IL, USA, and University of Linköping, Sweden. From 1992 to 2018 he worked as Clinical and Interventional Cardiologist at the Division of Cardiology, Maggiore Hospital, Bologna, Italy. His main research interest has long been the management of thrombotic diseases, in which he pioneered the field of antithrombotic treatment of patients on oral anticoagulation undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. On this topic, he produced a substantial scientific contribution which led to his involvement in the development of national and international guidelines and/or consensus documents. He is Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and the current Chairperson of the European Society of Cardiology Working Group on Thrombosis.
